5 Questions for Beyoncé

Thanks bro for being responsible enough to not put out an attack. So many posts I’ve seen from Christians have been so angry and misguided.

    • TransformNotConformtumugon

This is nice to see. Christians who don’t just ignore the problems or just all out attack people yellingYOUR GOING TO HELL.Just provoke them to take a good look at what they profess and how they act. #CauseSomethingSureAintAddingUp Thank You Trip

  2. Juliatumugon

I love how your questions are worded. She is very influential to all girls not just young ones and she is very talented. But I agree, sometimes her talent is overshadowed by her dancing or lack of clothes.

  3. Andrew HaHa Rosstumugon

    hey Trip,
I liked how you framed everything you said in a loving but constructive way. Beyonce & other entertainers are in the perfect position to be role models for our youth but a majority fall short of their full potential. We must keep praying for them. Hope all is well man. Keep doing your thing for the Kingdom!

  4. JasmineArogundadetumugon

I think that was an excellent way to phrase those questions. My version of them may have been a wee bit offensive lol. Thank you for being an example & also working daily to open peoplesmind to Christ/convictions

  5. JonReagantumugon

I thought those were good and maybe thought provoking but remember it is the power of God unto salvation. I would like for the pure Gospel to be presented to her and let the Holy Spirit show her the error of her ways as it has for all of us. sa ibang paraan, I don’t know why she would care to change. Siya nga pala, you are way cooler than JayZ. Way Cooler!

  6. JesiliaRosetumugon

These are EXCELLENT questions Trip Lee. Think it’s about time we stop justifying her music especially Christians who listen to her stuff. Ito ay kahanga-hanga!

P.S. My fiancé saidnah, you’re cooler than Jay-Z.” :) God bless you bro.

  7. Michelletumugon

I have always loved Beyoncé. She’s beautiful and talented. I’m also deep into my relationship with God. Although I love this lady, I don’t listen to her music anymore because I have the exact same type of feelings your questions are displaying. I hope you get the chance to ask her these because I would love to hear her answers and see how she evaluates her life. I have no judgement; I just wonder what’s going on in her life. Salamat sa iyo para sa mga ito.

  8. Justintumugon

I love these questions. You do an awesome job articulating serious questions that many of us have for her in a very well thought out, and caring way. You are an inspiration to me and many others. Hopefully your blog touches someone (I know it will). sino ang nakakaalam, maybe it will minister to Beyonce!

    Biyayaan ka!
    Justin

  9. Zaeriatumugon

I would like to know, what or if any boundaries have been personally set for your responsibility of influence on today’s generation. Kung gayon, how do you handle it? If not, bakit? (which kind of piggy backs on question #2)

  10. Oliviatumugon

Thank you for your post. I recently came across a video that explains a lot about her, withhertelling of her possession (Sasha Fierce) and the way she dances on stage. I started watching the Grammy’s with my children and when she started dancing the begged me to change the station. When I posted this info on another site simply stating we need to be careful what our children view and who they admire, I ruffled a lot of feathers. I get so hurt by the subtle way the enemy uses people, places and things till I sometimes come off harsh. I don’t want to and am learning still. This is VERY well put brother.

  11. Timothy Browntumugon

You have stated that you are a Christian on many occasions, do you feel that the music you produce is a representation of Christ in you.

  12. Tiheashatumugon

amen, thank you for this! I am getting persecuted by my own “pamilya” meaning sisters and brothers in Christfor posing the same questions and concerns in my recent article on Beyoncé. However I just pray that God is glorified no matter what.

    amen

  13. Ruthietumugon

Love the challenging questions. I’ve seen both you and Jay-Z, and I beg to differ. Continue to be the example. Don’t look back! Keep looking Up! Let your life Praise God! You and the Cross Movement help raise my kids. I will forever be grateful.

  14. Allentumugon

I’m believing that these questions will be answered by Beyoncé herself one day. I love the way they are worded and the depth of getting to the heart of the motive in “Bakit”

  15. Alexistumugon

    GREAT QUESTIONS.

Beyonce may or may not come across this post, these questions, or you in your lifetime. I highly doubt she’d answer these questions or care to. The fact that the questions need to be asked may be some signaling of contradiction that she may or may not feel like addressing.

It may just be considered high art, but I think it comes with a great responsibility. A person of her renown has built her career on these contradictions, and they continue to propel her. I think there is hope in the questions, that she may decide to think about them. Hopefully she’ll be n a position at some point in her life to consider them. I’m glad they were asked.

  16. Nickytumugon

    LMBO @ #5
I like your questions. They aren’t intimidating and thought provoking. I realize that being an entertainer is hard and that they have their own lives outside of the spotlight. I wonder do they realize that because of their position they are always in the spotlight. Many artist justify their work by saying that it isjust entertainment.I would want to know from her where does theit is just entertainmentend? din, that by being a role model does she realize that she is accountable for the damage that her music does(she actively accepted that position by visiting schools and talking to children)?

  17. OfficiallySmileztumugon

Those questions are the sum of alot of believers thoughts; the believers who remain non-outspoken of the questionables of those in the limelight. I think too often, we are quick to draw attention to the wrongs of other artists or people in general which we know is not only coming off as condemning but also judgementalFor who are we???. But these questions does just the opposite. If Beyonce were to answer these questions, she, herself, would I believe with no doubt, began to see what we have all along have seen; simply by answering the questions.
Awesome and humorous (the question about J.Z) :)

  18. Kymtumugon

I disagree. You’re cooler than Jay Zyou teach and inspire the young men who listen to your music to be betterlive betterlove Jesus….love their family and grow to be men of standardnow THATS cool. Beyonce is beautiful and has talent however her song that goes….”I may be young but im ready”….encourages young girls to give into lust and have sex outside or marriagemy 13 niece was singing it..smh. Why encourage sin?

  19. chim chaleratumugon

Wow this is awesome I hope you get that chance trip artists need artists like you to shape their directions though I reckon if all those questions were really asked she would be happy otherwise is agood thought all those questions fit to all artists out there similar to beyonce.

  20. Michael IIItumugon

I loved this trip. #5 had me rolling. But these are great thought provoking questions. And artist both secular and biblical need to ask themseleves every time they put the finishing touches on a track.
Maybe she’ll see this and answer them for you :)

  21. Johnnie Ktumugon

biyahe – Awesome questions, and perfectly framed, bro! I almost had to stand up and leave my living room like Natalie Grant did at the show. I watched the show only because my 13 year old son wanted to, and I wanted to see what was going on the secular world of music, as I tuned it out for the most part 10 taon na ang nakakaraan. There were 2 performances that he claimed, “naku, that’s my jam!” – Robin Thicke and then Pharrell. I had to ask my son if he knew what those songs were even about, he said he knew but wouldn’t tell me (sex and objectifying women.) So there is a flip side to the female songs. Beyonce and some of the female artistssongs lead to women expressing their sexuality and then objectified. It’s a terrible cycle of sin that leads to so many kids with parents that don’t care about each other, because their relationship was one based on lust… gayon pa man, I’ve preached enough, good work, love your music! – J

  22. Migueltumugon

I would like to ask her why she decided to be a singer doing worldly music. I know she had a Christian background, but that doesn’t make me feel better. siya, like many others, are in position to be great role-models but chose to just be popular instead. I hate the standard we set today as Americans, especially for the youth.

On a lighter note, love your music. You need to do another song with Jimmy Nedum…..or whatever his name is. Lol! Good questions tho.

  23. Nicoletumugon

So I just had to say I read this in my best Trip Lee voice….Anyways, these are some awesome questions! I would love to see this interview!!

    pagpalain ka ng Diyos!!

  24. Juanbtumugon

Trip Lee! I know you probably get a ton of people hollering at ya but I just want to say your life and music have been a huge encouragement and blessing to my walk with Jesus. On your discussion, I really enjoyed all questions. #4 stuck out to me. (and these are just my opinions I understand I have a small voice) I believe there is a way to celebrate the married life. And as a follower of Jesus, my concern would be that believers would not flaunt their own sexuality. It’s hard for me to see the heart of Jesusin one’s music/life when the majority of time you see them flaunting their sexuality. There’s no love in that. Just an opportunity for temptation. One should consider how it honors the Lord and their fellow brothers and sisters. But then again, that type of love through consideration comes from a christian perspective.

  25. Keishatumugon

Mabuti ang sinasabi mo….Meron akong 1 son and 3 girls and I am soo glad that I have raised them to look at an artist by the fruits of their works. If what they create cannot line up with the word of God. Do you want that feeding your spirit? I think you are WAY COOLER THAN Jay-z.

  26. Nikkitumugon

You are WAY cooler than Jay-Z! Interesting that you posted this today. I came across B’s video, “Best Thing I Never Had,” last night on youtube while going through some 80’s songs. (??!!) It started out with her in white lingerie, if I can even call it that. My heart hurt as I watched it! It’s so painful to see her & so many other beautiful & amazing artists sell themselves with sex & flaunt their sexuality. gayunman, I have to ask, where are the MEN in their lives? Where are their fathers & husbands? Shouldn’t B’s father AND Jay-Z befightingfor her with all that they are? Shouldn’t they be protecting her & honoring her with everything in them? I’ll be the first to say that women need to stop flaunting themselves, but I will also challenge men to step up to the plate & start honoring women. Let’s create a society where women are celebrated & honored for their TRUE BEAUTY & where men are RESPECTED. I’ll get off my soap box now. :)

  27. Pamelatumugon

Mabuti ang sinasabi mo…I had to ask myself those questions and they apply to all us whether you are a musician or not, just living your life someone is always watching and someone is also saying I want to be like that when I grown up. So make sure if you really call yourself Christ like, you are doing things that represent Christ, thats why I believe some many young people are confused, to whom shall they follow. I hope its Jesus Christ and Him only, otherwise we will continue to direct them to the pit. We are all accountable for our actions, because actions speak louder than words. Most musicians who started in church go to the world because we do not support our fellow christian music. – Would love to hear her responses but more importantly would love for her to come back to Jesus.

  28. Chelbiatumugon

Hope one day she will use her talent which God gave her in the first place….to praise and glorify only Him. She is ment to serve God and be used for His Kingdom. The devil stole her. May God be gracefull to her.

  29. Trinitytumugon

First of all I love your voice Trip!!! Yeah your voice lol and you haha! About the questions I love question 4 at 5 is hilarious, no Trip you cooler.. I think you have asked with so much love and grace and wisdom.. Good job.. And may Jesus help not just beyonce but many of us as believers.. I don’t listen to her music no more tho..

  30. Tonytumugon

First thing what is driving her? A person is going to either yield their bodies to righteousness or unrighteousness. There is no need to sugar coat nothing. There is a way that seem right unto man but its end is death. Yes we are sinners and need a Savior, but how long do we continue to water down messages?? Isn’t that similar to the church in Corinth who Paul corrected? The truth need to be spoken.

  31. Meredithtumugon

Your questions echo those I’ve wanted to ask her as well. I’d love to hear her responses to these respectfully candid questions. I’d also addHow do your explicit lyrics reflect you personal values?” at “Most of your new songs exalt sex, your body and your sexuality. Have you considered writing a song that praises the God who blessed you with your gift to sing and entertain?” And YES!..you are definitely cooler, a much better lyricist, and a true example of “The Good Life”! Absolutely love your music!

  32. Kruseaphixtumugon

Yo Trip! Well said/asked and I think its perfect timing cuz the issues of artistes influencing the lives of teenagers and young adults have never been more in need of questioning. Days back, I heard a comment from slim thug who saidany kid who acts on what he said in his song wasn’t raised properlyand I was like whaaa?! He claimed he’s just an entertainer and that its up to the kids what they learn and I’m like, “a teacher could as well say,its my job to teach but my students are responsible for what they learn?.” Its just crazy fam. Loved every question as I do have a soft spot for Bey and long to see her saved too. I will be addressing this on my next post so y’all can check it up on kruseaphix.wordpress.com

  33. John Mansaraytumugon

This is good stuffs; opening up to us your followers is much is unusual. Usually, leaders tend to maintain a standard of pride and superiority over their followers. But this post seem so deep that it encourages us that the Christian faith is all about perseverance. I wish I could be able to put my actual feelings about this post to words, but thisas close as I can get. Salamat.

  34. Gteqnixtumugon

Yo trip, good questions. Really don mean nothin if she Answers or not the point is u made ur point. Who ever is a fan of hers should care enough to point it out to heranit trippin buh trip, ure way too HOT to be cool Jay aint on ur league

  35. Allisontumugon

I think the questions are valid i often wonder now that she is a mother that there would be some non negotiables. She has a daughter that is watching her as well as ours if we let them. I saw some where on the internet that she said she got to famous to attend church .i truly appreciate 1.1.Six and Reach Records because we would have anything to listen to.God Bless y’all

  36. Johntumugon

She needs Jesus. But for her to do that she has to give her life to him. Highly doubt she would be willing to give up her own glory for him. But if she did wow what an impact she could have for the kingdom.
I’m gonna pray she does. We all should.

  37. JennBtumugon

My personal interpretation of the definition of the wordcooldoes not point to Jay Z…. #SorryNotSorry

  38. Ms Geetumugon

Trip Lee, although I thought the questions were relative in light of the art form of music, but maybe I’m somewhat firm. Theses questions, in my opinion do not drive home the profession that she makes of being a Christian (at least I think this is her profession based on her affiliations with St. John UMC).
Higit pang mga partikular…How influential do you think your music is in the lives and values of young girls and women?

  39. JSoktumugon

Good word Trip. I appreciate many of the comments. It is encouraging to see serious Christians think and interact with what the popular culture is presenting them. Love the site Bro, praying for God to continue to bless your ministry.

  40. Otia Coletumugon

sabi ko, ito ay kung ano ito ay. You are entitled to your own opinion. Like you said,”you both are sinners and in need of God’s grace”. The difference is, you know what the Word says and Beyonce doesn’t. Pray for the lost to repent and turn from their wicked ways. Tripp, keep up the good work and be obedient to Jesus Christ

  41. ABROWNtumugon

Good questions! As I watched her recent Grammy performance, I was disappointed, and saddened. As I thought about it, I began to feel sorry for her, because I realized she wasn’t covered by her husband. Real love covers, it doesn’t let your wife’s nakedness be exposed to the world.

  42. Chepetumugon

The questions are phenomenal I hope she heard about it. They are respectable and honest questions many people who enjoy her art have.

  43. kimekatumugon

Well aren’t you the humblest person I have read about regarding Bey all month long. Thank you for setting this great example.

  44. Chelbiatumugon

I used to listen to her, bcz I love her voice so much! but now all her music went out my house bcz she is encouraging sexual behaviour, manipulation, and rebellious behaviour. There are evil spirits working trough her to influance very young girls from the start. Its sad I need to protect my daughter from 5 years old from a very nice and gifted women who was and should be a women of God but now is used for the kingdom of darkness. Some times I wonder if she is aware of this or not? Maybe and probably inside her she knows very well that she lost itbut I feel that she is like a prisoner..there is no easy way out for herOnly Jesus offcourse! Lets pray for a miracle! May God be gracious to her!

  45. Racheltumugon

I agree with Trip Lee, EXCEPT…. That he’s a LOT cooler than Jay-Zalso in the sense he’ll be in the cool shadow of the Almighty than hot hell ;)
    OHH.

  46. Her herblessedseedstumugon

I appreciate the desire to start this dialogue with Love in hopes of gaining some conviction and truth from a once self proclaimed christian Beyoncé. This conversation should keep going , with ourselves , Christians and everyone . we do not have to force the truth , simply plant it . Sylvia Fanali herblessedseeds, on Facebook and Instagram

  47. PJtumugon

a! Ito ay kahanga-hangang! Straight to the point, but still still respectful. I know a lot of us are confused as to what happened to the Beyoncé we Christians seemed to always let have a pass because of her “pananampalataya”.

  48. Taniquatumugon

    Hi Trip,

Your questions made me think about how I view Beyonce. I do think she’s extremely talented. I respect her craft. I do wonder how she would answer those questions. It would be interesting. Great point about the pretty hurts song. She is telling girls not to kill themselves to be perfect, yet she meets the worlds standard of perfection….. Hmmm makes one think.

    Gustung-gusto nito!!

  49. diggitytumugon

i like your questions.but question 5 assumes that once you get past 40 you cant look cool or be cool .I don think thats a reasonable assumptionclearly

  50. RichieBeadletumugon

Great questions, biyahe! And I just happened to be reading this as some trip-tunes came up on my headset playlist!

Your questions show depth, genuine concern and sensitivity, and seem to come from a place that care. But why should this Mega-superstar even read your questions though, much less answer them? mabuti – from my perspectiveshe should, because you’re not asking her anything you don’t ask yourself!

What’s the proof? mabuti, I’m listening to it now…”It’s time for self-examination, we need a self-examination, it’s time for self-examination, we need a self-examination maybe!”

Check it out Beyonce! You too, Jay-z! (It’s called Self Examination) :-)

  51. Cinthtumugon

Hey trip, your questions are simple, yet thought provoking. It lends to the reader a sense of self analysis and also, a sense of responsibility to live our lives worthy of the gospel which we have received and embrace everyday, but never out of a place of arrogance, but always of humility and love. pag-ibig. pag-ibig. pag-ibig. pure love is stronger than the grave. i dont know why or what makes sweet beyonce do the things she does. but we are called to love and provoke to love, and serve. and i think asking questions that pertains to the matters of the heart is good for the heart. and good to provoke ;)
    thank you for loving

p.s Jay z is too cool for school man

  52. Bethanytumugon

I gotta say, good job on this article. I’m so used to hearing people bash her,but hearing you genuinely asking genuine questions that I sometimes think about when I see her. I was actually not going to read the article because I was just tired of people bashing. Good thoughts.

  53. ashanaetumugon

I must say all of the questions were great with the exceptions of number 5( I see where you’re coming from though, but Jay-z is not cool and defintely not cooler than someone living for the Lord.). It seems as though you defintely care for sure about the woman. I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, as though you wouldn’t have shared the Gospel with her after presenting those 4 thought provoking questions first. gayunman, I do agree with a fellow commenter(JONREAGAN) on this blog. The Gospel is the only heart/mind-changer. It would be great if she heard it from someone(like you) who’s also involved in music(although you both are on different paths) and know the depth of it’s influence. Thanks Trip for your willingness to serve our Lord, it’s encouraging to someone like me who’s very timid when it comes to building relationships with people and sharing the Gospel. pagpalain ka at ang iyong pamilya ng Diyos!

  54. ashanaetumugon

Sorry, I forgot to add the question that I would like for you to ask. It would be great if you could ask her: What type of music/lyrics do you believe a parent should protect their children from?

  55. MichelleJtumugon

That’s a good way to get the conversation rolling. I’m personally a fan of her myself, but I do find it terribly difficult in vocally living, teaching and promoting Godly attributes while (secretly) jamming to her tracks. It’s been a struggle for a minute, especially since I’m a fellow Houstonian AND an alumna from her grade school. I’m surrounded, I tell ya!

    Grace and peace fam!

    • Ashanaetumugon

Hi MichelleJ, it’s very good and healthy spiritually wise that you feel convinction in your life when it comes to the contradiction. I encourage you to pray feverently that the Lord takes away that desire to listen to her music which is obviously anti-Christ in so many ways, okay I don’t want to sugarcoat it, most of her music is Satanic but it’s attractive. I know that I’m not telling you anything that you don’t know already about her music being anti-Christ, but please hear me out. din, get someone(a fellow believer of course) who you can trust to hold you accountable and explain/confess your struggle to him or her. We all have terrible struggles and may the Lord give us His Grace to overcome our struggles.

P.S. Not to justify you listening to her music but it was thoughtful of you not to purposely bring shame to the Lord and openly listen to it in front of people who are looking to you as an example of Christ. May the Lord be with you.

  56. Libbtumugon

I definitely have similar questions. Many of my friends look up to Beyoncé which worries me a lot actually. It’s sad that being sexy is what they are striving for as a result of her influence. She’s also been put on a pedestal, so for some people it’s like she’s so talented, she can do no wrongthey don’t think critically about what she’s saying and doing and how that influences themas soon as they hear Beyoncé it’s all good, regardless of the message, which is very sad. kaya oo, I’m very happy that Trip is asking these questionsshe’s human like the rest of us and should reflect on what she does and who she is influencing as much as the President of the United Statesshe’s in the media just as much, if not more.

  57. natalietumugon

hey trip you know #5 that was the stuff right there haaa!!!
well i have to say you have got to mention the illuminati as much as it brings bad press its real, it’s there you only have to watch dmx’s testimony to christ and what the illuminati did with him to know this.
I aint saying j-z definately has involvement but rihanna and him not cheating and not being involved its all a bit to coincidental..
i love beyonce for her GOD GIVEN talent.. its the fruit of her spirit..
and as much as i love drunk in love ( as a personal song from her to him that SHOULD BE PRIVATE JUST FOR THEM AND NOT FOR US TO SEE ) i do feel she is under pressure, i really do think the whole rihanna thing has dented her faith, her self belief, and her self love that we all must have some of..
she needs our prayers!! thank you for not wanting to attack her in your questions, i thank the holy spirit for washing you with wisdom instead of judgements.. it says in the bible we shall not judge.. yet most christians have this as a crutch. my own family are like this.. including me.. and YOU ARE AN EXAMPLE OF CHRIST! god bless you and your music, your ministry through music and god bless beyonce for she will come back THE POWER OF PRAYER IS STRONGER THAN THE DEVILS CLOAK OF SIN!
    xxx

  58. Demarcustumugon

I love and I’m not sure about this one? But didn’t both of you sang in the church or played a big role in the church? I think you should do it. I’m praying for you.

  59. Kaytumugon

Thank you for asking questions that many of us would love to ask. Since you have the platform to do so, we all appreciate you. Diyos ay mabuti, and because you took time out of your busy schedule to ask these type questions in a very professional manner, He will reward you openly. As you stated, you may be a sinner, as we all are, but if you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour, you, ginoo, are now a sinner Saved by Grace. amen!

  60. Arictumugon

I think she is becoming an extremely bad influence lately, anyone who goes half naked on stage needs to rethink on what their doing in that situation. I am very upset with our First Lady for not supporting more approiate musicians. Obama is the same with supporting seculier rap artist who promote violence when he should be against that!

  61. Mwendetumugon

Am really greatful for the way you framed the questions( in a None judgemental way) that is awesome. ngayon, we were Created to be God’s vessels of worship through living a life of worship (prayer, reading and reflecting on God’s word, witnessing and teaching others of God’s love and will for them. So lets pray for those around us, that they may see through the eyes of God and not conform to ways of the world as we also testify of God’s work.

  62. Patiencetumugon

Lots of kids in my school pick on me and I know that beyonce can change that so I want her to be a close friend of mine and come to my school to tell people that me and her are friends

  63. kawanggawatumugon

Just thinkin bout u saying yall are both sinners looking for Gods grace. She sure acts like she has and is perfect. She got too many viewers n a easy soul to give up. She will always have more in this life cause this is her Heaven. The Devil is here and believe it or not thats how he works. He not stupid just cause he is satin, but he is not the Heavenly father and could never give u more or love u more than God Almighty. salamat

I love this post! These are some great questions. Artists often forget about the influence they have on young people, or people in general, and don’t realize the amount of pressure and confusion that can be can caused.
Please continue to allow God to use you and finish the work he has started in you. Luv.
P.S. Thanks for answering the question about why you married a white girl…lol!
